Montine “Teenie “ Mooney Moss, a devoted servant of the Lord went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 96 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion. She was born in Spencer, NC to to the late Hershel Mooney and Ollie Overcash Mooney. Teenie lived a life filled with faith, family, and music.
As a dedicated servant of the Lord, Teenie was a proud member of Multiply Church (formerly First Assembly in Concord), where she sang in the choir and served with the seniors' ministry. Her love for music and performance led her to become Mrs. North Carolina Senior in the 80s, showcasing her talents in singing and playing the piano. She also performed for numerous organizations, funerals, and churches, using her talents to spread the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Living most of her life in Kannapolis, at the age of 80, Bob Misenheimer, Mayor of Kannapolis, deemed Thursday, October 30, 2008 as Montine “Teenie” Mooney Moss Day.
Teenie's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. She worked as a secretary in various industries, including Central Motor Lines in Charlotte and for the government during World War II. She also served as secretary at Shadybrook Elementary School and owner/Vice President at CJ Moss Real Estate for over 50 years.
Teenie’s favorite hobbies were traveling the United States and internationally across multiple countries, but her favorite place was her home at North Myrtle beach.
Some of her greatest passions as a young girl started with her own radio program at the age of 12. She loved roller skating, dancing, water skiing, and snow skiing in her earlier years.
Teenie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving children, Cheryl Hollifield (Randy), and Marla Alley (Frankie); her grandchildren, Tyler Hollifield Myers (Jason), Garrett Hollifield (Tanya), Mallory Hollifield Kanos (William), Derek Alley, Jordan Alley Zavala (J.J.), Kelley Moss, and Melanie Moss Campbell (Toby); her great-grandchildren, Ryker and Berkley Myers, Cayman and Maris Hollifield, Crew and Lola James Kanos, Luka, Makena, and Kalia Zavala, Harland Moss, Christian (Jessi), Keagan, and Madalynn Campbell; and her great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Theodore, and Luke Campbell.
A celebration of Teenie's life will be held at Multiply Church (formerly First Assembly) in the Whidden Auditorium on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11 AM - 12:15 PM with service to follow. Burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Park following the service.
