Murry "Reid" Campbell, Sr.

September 28, 1941 — August 21, 2020

Murry “Reid” Campbell Sr., 78, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2020 at Atrium Health University City, after a period of declining health.

Reid was born on September 28, 1941 in Rowan County to the late Hugh Murry Campbell and Ellen Morgan Campbell. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Milam Campbell

As a sailor in the U.S Navy Reid bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg, NC, as well as the Eureka Masonic Lodge #283. Reid spent his career as a maintenance mechanic for Cannon Mills. In his spare time, he enjoyed making baskets and became a skilled basket weaver.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Martha Gay Campbell and son Murry Reid Campbell Jr. (Amy) both of Charlotte; and his sister, Elaine Campbell Brooks.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at West Lawn in China Grove, North Carolina with Rev. Rody Carland. Family will receive friends at the conclusion of the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent in Mr. Campbell’s name to Providence Baptist Church 5315 NC-49, Harrisburg, NC 28075.
