Myra Sue King Bost, 82, of Rockwell passed away on Monday April 29, 2024, at her home after a period of declining health.
A gathering to celebrate Myra’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 2nd. Her family will receive friends in the church’s Family Life Center from 2:00 to 3:45 PM and then a memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary, with Pastor Joshua Copeland officiating. Burial will be private.
Myra was born August 2, 1941, in Rowan Co. NC, a daughter of the late Mack and Esther Coone King. In addition to her parents, Myra was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry King and his wife Nancy.
Myra was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She worked for many years caring for the elderly at several local nursing homes as a Registered Nurse.
Myra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She sacrificed to put her husband through college and seminary and then later in life, she pursued her own degree to support her children’s and eventually, her grandchildren’s dreams. Though not an outdoorsman, Myra went out of her comfort zone to go camping and even white water rafting to enjoy her family and friends. She also ran a successful real estate leasing company for many years with her sister Jane. She will be remembered for her sacrificial spirit, her sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself and most of all, for her love of family and friends.
Myra is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Gene Bost, her sons, Barry Bost (Jill) of Concord, Keith Bost (Maria) of Lexington, Benjamin Bost (Stephanie) of Holly Springs, NC and her daughter, Bonnie Benson (Tommy Lassiter) of N. Myrtle Beach. She had 6 beloved grandchildren of whom she was so proud. Also surviving is her sister Jane Honbarrier (Ron).
Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com and in lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations be made to Grace Lutheran Church Youth of Grace, 3020 Grace Church Rd. Salisbury NC 28147.
