Obituary: Myrtie Jean Norris Poplin, 79 of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Mrs. Poplin was born on August 20, 1934, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Percy Powell Norris and Blanche Moon Norris. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Webb Poplin. Myrtie was formerly employed by Ben Franklin - Kress Stores. She loved life, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her outlook on life brightened the spirit of everyone she met. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Poplin will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg with Rev. Terry Faulkenberry officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the daughter's residence at 9462 Hester Ct., Harrisburg. Mrs. Poplin is survived by a son, Terry Poplin and wife Michelle of Charlotte, a daughter, Dana Lucas and husband Don of Harrisburg, four grandchildren; Megan and Leah Poplin and Brooke and Blaire Lucas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to West Cabarrus Church, c/o Missions, 7655 Bruton Smith Blvd., Concord, NC 28027.
