Obituary: Myrtle Ben Funderburk Rogers, 87, of Concord, formerly of China Grove, died August 12, 2015 at Brookdale Concord South after a lengthy illness. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 15 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.R. Beaver and Rev. Herman Absher officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Myrtle was born August 30, 1927 in Union Co., a daughter of the late George Cleo Funderburk, Sr. and Martha Cleo Horne Funderburk. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 59 ½ years, A. Floyd Rogers, her sister, Mary Jo Funderburk Mullis, her brother, George Cleo Funderburk, Jr. and grandson, Mark Halvaksz. Myrtle was a "farm girl" from Monroe who came to work in Cannon Mills in 1945 with Floyd. She worked in Plant 4 Spinning Room and the Cloth Room until she retired in 1987. Myrtle loved church, children, sewing, cooking, shopping and traveling with her friends. She was a member of Royal Oaks Baptist from 1945 to 1989, Jackson Park Baptist Church from 1989 to present and Lane Street Baptist church for 2 years. Myrtle was a Sunday School teacher at Royal Oaks and co-president of the Ageless Wonders at Jackson Park Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her sister, Anna Frances Funderburk Baker of Marshville, her daughters; Brenda Langley (Emmett) of China Grove, Diane Aldridge of Kannapolis. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Seth Halvaksz (Jennifer), Melanie Clark (Mike), Chris Aldridge (Amanda), Amanda Hood (Russell), 4 step grandchildren; Sam Langley (Kristy), Stephanie Frasure, Sean Langley (Corina) and Sarah Langley, 5 great grandchildren; Heath Halvaksz, Bradley Spegal, Parker Reid, James Best, Briley Hood; 12 step-great grandchildren: Kyle Clark, Grant Clark, Chad Langley, Aric Langley, Maggie Frasure, Brady Frasure, Abby Frasure, Cacie Langley, Carter Langley, Caleb Langley, Isaiah Langley, Johnny Mastropole, and many close friends.
