Nancy Eloise Chavis Butler, 73, of Kannapolis passed away Thursday, August 3, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus after a period of declining health.
She was born on December 2, 1948 in Cabarrus Co. a daughter of the late Foster and Eloise Snipes Chavis. In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by 5 siblings; Sandy Chavis, Jan Beaver, Mary Kendall, Mike Chavis and Patricia Stewart.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Linwood Butler, her daughter Marie Redmond (Mark) of Concord and her sons, Eric Goodman and Darren Butler, both of Kannapolis and 2 sisters, Christy Davis and Linda Chavis, both of Kannapolis. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Bella, Brett and Braxton Butler, Erica and Savannah Goodman and Brianna and Christian Morgan and Matt Redmond and one great-grandchild, Kaiden McCain.
Nancy was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She worked for Pacer Manufacturing and later traveled the countryside with her husband Linwood, who was a long-haul trucker until she retired and became a stay-at-home mom. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM Sunday, August 14 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Herson Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
