Nancy Shepherd Cline, of 885 Roy Cline Road, died on December 27, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on January 18, 2025, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, China Grove, with Pastor Bob Young officiating. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall immediately following the Service.
Mrs. Cline was born in Wilkes County on August 18, 1932. Nancy grew up in Kannapolis where she was actively involved in First Baptist Church and a member of the last graduating class of JW Cannon High School in 1951. She earned her RN from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Concord. While she worked in several local hospitals and the American Red Cross of Charlotte, most of her nursing career was spent in private practice with Dr. Winfrey Whicker in China Grove. She retired from nursing in 1995 but was always known and loved by her many patients as “Nancy Nurse.” An active member of Ebenezer, she served on the church council, as well as numerous committees. She loved entertaining friends, socializing with her Cannon classmates, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Mrs. Cline was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Mack Cline, her mother Callie Shepherd Vannoy, and two brothers, Jack Vannoy and Franklin Vannoy. She is survived by her son, Mark Frederic Cline (Pam), of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Lisa Cline Todd (Jimmy), of Gainesville, GA; two granddaughters, Caroline Todd Holman (Steele) of Birmingham, AL and Madelyn Renee Cline, of Los Angeles, CA; four sisters, Mary Sheets of Millers Creek, Eddie Mae Shoemaker of Wilkesboro, Barbara Lovette and Annie Ruth Frazier (Mike) both of Moravian Falls; two brothers, Johnny Vannoy of High Point and Ronnie Vannoy of Millers Creek, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to neighbors, members of the Ebenezer congregation, and the family of Dr. Michael Morton, Jr., for all the joy they brought to Nancy’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 4914 Old Beatty Ford Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
