Nancy (Viola) Finger

Nancy Jean Viola Finger, 89, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023. She was born in Concord on August 18, 1934, to George and Blanche Viola.

Nancy was a deeply caring, warm, and generous woman. As a mother and grandmother, Nancy was thoughtful, attentive, and curious —with a dazzling smile and endless hospitality. As a nurse, she cared for many in need over the course of her career.

Nancy was a woman of great faith, which she passed down through generations of her family. She also embraced her Italian heritage: No one ever left Nancy’s home hungry. She was famous for her homemade spaghetti and meatballs, sometimes with tomatoes grown in her own garden. Nancy loved birds, and she made sure they, too, were well fed.

Nancy’s memory is cherished by her children, Beth and David (Cynthia); her siblings, Dr. Alex Viola (Lili) and Cindy Purser; and her grandchildren, Megan, Bryce, and Brett.

Consistent with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family will gather at a future date to celebrate Nancy's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation, 220 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
