Nancy Jo (Sechler) Helms

Nancy Jo Sechler Helms, 85, of Concord, and formerly of China Grove, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2023, at Levine and Dixon Hospice House in Huntersville.

Born March 22, 1938, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Grady Sechler and Ruby Mauldin Sechler.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver LeRoy Helms, Jr.

Nancy was a graduate of Landis High and had worked in textiles most of her life, retiring from China Grove Cotton Mill. She had been a member of Landis Baptist Church. Nancy enjoyed her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed the beach, traveling and site seeing. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family members include her children, Tammy Strickland (Frank), Dale M. Helms (Katie) and Jeffrey Helms (Corinna); her grandchildren, April Stowe, David M. Helms (Demaris), Ivanah Cartrette (Stephen), Christpher D. Helms (Ashley), and Jameson M. Helms, and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm Thursday, November 30th at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel, conducted by David M. Helms. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, where Mrs. Helms will be laid to rest with her husband.

The family would like to thank the staff of Levine and Dixon Hospice House for the care, concern and love given to Mrs. Helms and her family during her illness.
