Obituary: Nannie Virginia Collins, 94, of Rockwell went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Meadows Retirement Center of Rockwell following a period of declining health. She was born September 17, 1921 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late John P. Collins, Sr. and the late Iva Lee Nichols Collins. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Kathrine Collins Shoemaker, Elsie Mae Collins Brinkley and Jewellean Collins. Miss Collins was of the Baptist Faith. She was a beautician for many years in Rockwell and retired from Cannon Mills, Plt. #1, wash cloth department with 37 years of service. She enjoyed making dolls and their clothing. Survivors include one brother, John P. Collins, Jr. of Rockwell , one sister, Benita Collins Clayton of Winston-Salem, NC, eight nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews, and six great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel conducted by Rev. Rafe Allison. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Annex Chapel from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service.
