Neavonne Carter Wensil

Obituary: Neavonne Carter Wensil, 83, of Rockwell, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast. She was born October 23, 1927 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Jones Ephraim Carter and Esther Troutman Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Amos Alexander Wensil in 2003. Neavonne retired from Cannon Mills where she had worked in the sewing room. She was an active member of Phaniels Baptist Church where she had been church custodian for over 40 years. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Phaniels Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert Wensil and Rev. Mike Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening 6 to 8 at Whitley's Funeral Home.She is survived by two sons Allen Wensil of Mocksville, and Dr. Robert Wensil and wife Marty of Iron Station, a daughter Renee Wensil Ball of Rockwell, 4 grandchildren: Brian, Randy and Christopher Wensil and Brandon Ball, 4 great-grandchildren and her sister Helen Kerr of Hickory.
