Nell Fisher, 86, formerly of Charlotte, NC and resident of Greenville/Simpsonville, SC passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at NHC Mauldin in Greenville, SC.
She was born May 21, 1938 in Clinton, NC to the late Mossette T. Parsons and Cynthia Margaret Jackson Parsons.
Nell attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC and graduated in 1960 with a BA in Education. Nell played basketball for Queens College and was dedicated to becoming an educator. She began teaching in the Charlotte- Mecklenburg School System in 1961 and continued for the next 35 years. Nell taught science and health education with most of her years at Quail Hollow Jr High in south Charlotte. She enjoyed advising the JV Cheerleaders and the JV Basketball teams while at Quail Hollow and instrumental in developing and maintaining the after school tutoring programs.
Nell was active in her Charlotte city council and ran for council in 1981, and was a strong advocate for young women's health and under-privileged students lunch programs and transportation. Nell was adamant and passionate about public education and giving the best learning experience for all students. She was a loving "Nana" to her two grand-daughters, Emily and Lizzie, whom she cherished.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Lester V Fisher II in 2009, and her son "Sonny" Lester V Fisher III in 2016, a brother, Clarence Parsons and a sister Frances Eaker.
Those left to cherish her memory, a daughter, Cynthia F Todd, two grand-daughters, Emily Grace Henry and Elizabeth K Todd (Lizzie). A daughter-in law, Sara S Fisher.
A short graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord, NC. A visitation and small service for Nell with close family and friends will be held at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, NC prior to the graveside gathering from 2-2:45 pm.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association.
