Nellie Merrill Pace

Obituary: Nellie "Nell" Mae Merrill Pace, 93 of Indian Trail formerly of Concord, NC went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail following a period of declining health. Nellie was born September 11, 1921 in Henderson County, NC a daughter of the late Edger and Roetta McCall Merrill. She was a member of Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post5206 of Hendersonville. She was employed at Plant #1 Sewing Dept. of Cannon Mills, retiring with 35 years of service. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie C. Pace, Jr. who died September 6, 2013, four sisters; Nora "Susie" Lee Rumple, Ruby Roland, Irene Merrill, Alma Allman and one brother, John Merrill. Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Little of Concord and Mary Weems of Bristle, Va. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. B. Scott Davis. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Pitts Baptist Church, 140 Pitts School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
