Obituary: Nellie Trexler Sanders, 84, of Kannapolis passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Brian Center, Concord following a period of declining health. She was born January 12, 1929 in Rowan County, NC a daughter of the late Harvey Edward Trexler, Sr. and the late Lela Evan Holshouser Trexler. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Julius Franklin Sanders who died in 2005. She was employed by Cannon Mills Plt. #4, weave room, retiring with 40 years of service. She enjoyed making quilts and was known for making smocks for her coworkers at Cannon. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Trexler Brewington (Bobby) of Fayetteville, three sons, Julius Ray Sanders (Jenene), Max Sanders (Kelli) of Salisbury, and Glenn Sanders (Diann) of Kannapolis, one sister, Carrie Furr of Kannapolis, one brother Carl Trexler of Enochville Community, nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Carolina Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Jasper Sanders. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. prior to the graveside service. At other times they will be at their respective residences.
