Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Nettie Pope Patton, age 93, died January 1, 2012 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a short illness.She was born August 9, 1918 in Wilkes County, NC, the daughter of the late Alonzo Hollister Pope and Lelia Savannah Walker Pope. She had been a resident of the area since 1933.Nettie was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt. #1 Sheet Dept. for 45 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Patton who died in 1981; and a number of other brothers and sisters.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Carolina Memorial park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Willie Rash. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.Survivors include a son, H. C. (Butch) Patton & wife, Connie of Kannapolis, NC; two grandchildren, Niki Patton of Charlotte, NC and Chelsea Patton of Kannapolis, NC; and a sister, Alma Helton of Hickory, NC.
