Obituary: Neva E. Nave, age 89, who had made her home in Kannapolis, NC for the past 1 ½ years. She was formerly from Venice and Osprey, Florida where she and her late husband had lived for 50 years. She died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at her home. She was born January 6, 1920 in Auglaize County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert Lewis Smith and Ida Mae Rank Smith. She was a civic leader in Osprey, Florida from the mid-1940's to 1959. She was President and Founder of Osprey's first Community Center and had a byline with the Venice Gondolier newspaper entitled "Osprey's Orbits." She also worked for the former Electro-Mechanic Research Center in Sarasota, FL for 14 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Nave who died in 2001. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio. Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home, 115 Main Street, Lakeview, Ohio will be serving the family there. The family will have a visitation in her local community from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra A. Mitchell of Kannapolis, NC, Sue Nave Covill Hocutt of Four Oaks, NC; her son, Edward A. Nave of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
