Nevin Lee Robinson

Obituary: Mr. Nevin Lee Robinson, 73, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House. He had been in declining health for one year. Nevin was born September 30, 1944 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Lester William and Annie Mae Severt Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Linda Ruth Ferguson Robinson who died August 17, 2017. Nevin was a 1964 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Vietnam. He also was in the US Army reserve. He was an active member of Kimball Lutheran Church where he was a member of the church choir, the Men's Group, had served on the church council, the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class and the property committee. After leaving military service he drove trucks and later was employed with the Department of Corrections at the Salisbury High Rise. He later transferred to the Cabarrus County Sherriff's Dept. where he retired in 1999. He then resumed truck driving with various companies as long as his health permitted. He was a member of Allen-Graham Lodge #695 AF&AM, Scottish Rite; Charlotte Valley, and Oasis Temple. Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Nevina Leigh Robinson (Buddy) Christy of Kannapolis, one step-son, Michael D. (Kimberly) Deese of Kannapolis, three granddaughters; Amelia Barton, Aleigha and Ashlyn Christy and one grandson, Michael Deese, two great-granddaughters, a niece, Sharon Dixon Davis of Kannapolis and several others thru love. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Kimball Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. John Futterer and Rev. Elizabeth Fisher. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with graveside rites by the Cabarrus County Sherriff's Department and the Kannapolis Police Department. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Nevina Christy of Kannapolis.
