Obituary: Nora "Joyce" Gray Hinson, 79, of Kannapolis passed away at her home on Monday, May 4, 2015. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 7 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Lucas officiating. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Joyce was born February 3, 1936 in Madison Co. GA, the daughter of the late Euel O. and Nora Smith Gray. She was a long-time area resident. Joyce worked as a sewer for Cannon Mills Co. and then for Terry Products until it closed. Joyce was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Allen Hinson and her son, Johnny Allen Hinson. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cathy H. Jones of China Grove, her son, Chris Lee Hinson of Kannapolis, her grandchildren; Brandi J. Seal (David) of Mt. Airy, Sierra H. Tinkey (Dennis) of Albemarle, Kristen Jones of Salisbury, Katie Hinson of Albemarle and Dustin Lee Hinson (Alyssa) of China Grove, her great-grandchildren; Grayson, Cody, Daryus, Larkyn, Addison, Braydyn, Caythyn and her brother, Larry F. Gray of Mt. Pleasant. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to her nurses and staff of Hospice of Cabarrus Co. and to Kerry Sivula for the love and care shown to Nora during her illness.
