Nora Susie Lee Rumple

Obituary: Nora Lee "Susie" Rumple, 96, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at Caremoor Retirement Center. She was born January 25, 1915 in Hendersonville, NC, the daughter of the late Edgar Merrill and Roetta McCall Merrill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Rumple on Nov. 29, 1963. Susie was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church since 1937. She was a former Sunday school teacher for 15 years, helped organize the first Cherub Children's Choir, president of the Young at Heart organization for many years, member of a Women's Circle, voted Church Woman of the Year in 1985 and a charter member of the Bethpage Home Extension club. She is survived by her four sisters, Nell Pace and Lillian Little, both of Concord, Ruby Rowland of Kannapolis and Mary Weems of Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Jay Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 2:00 to 3:00. Memorials may be made to Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
