It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our beloved Margaret Day. Norma “Margaret” Donahue Day, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024, surrounded by love and her family. Margaret was most happy when spending time with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy!
Margaret was a warm, loving soul, who touched so many lives with her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit. Whether it was her gentle smile, her contagious laughter, or her unwavering support, she made the world a brighter place for all who knew her.
As we navigate this time of loss, we find comfort in the memories and stories shared by those whose lives she touched. We thank all of you who have been a part of her story.
Her family will receive friends at West Point Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 15, starting at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service that will start at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Eddie Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Margaret was born March 24, 1948, in Cabarrus Co., the daughter of the late Norman H. Donahue and Ruby Teal Donahue. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Day.
Margaret was a lifelong area resident and graduate of A. L. Brown High School Class of ’66 and later graduated from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1977. Margaret worked for the same hospital, Atrium Health Cabarrus from 1978 to 2008, retiring when she turned 60. She was a longtime active member of West Point Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Mullis Bruce (Thad) and her son, Chris Mullis (Staci), both of Kannapolis, her sister Teresa Donahue Trammell (Terry) of Salisbury, six grandchildren; Whitney Anderson, Branden Mullis (Tiffany), Kimberly Bolen (William), Andrew Mullis (Amanda), Kevin Mullis (Mary Claire) and Zack Bruce (Lauren) as well as 10 great-grandchildren, her nephew, Aaron Trammell of Decatur, GA and her niece, Sarah Cole of Rockwell.
