Norma Jean (Goodwin) Dunn

Norma Jean Goodwin Dunn, 84, passed away Saturday evening, October 24, 2020, at her home, following a brief period of declining health.

Born February 25, 1936, in Mercer County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Earl Hershel and Gladys Irene Robinette Goodwin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, James Bradley Dunn, Jr., and her sisters, Kay Havens, Carolyn Janutolo and Margaret Cundiff.

Mrs. Dunn had retired as a department manager with Walmart, after 15 years of loyal service.  She was a member of Enochville Church of God, loved her Lord and all of her family. Norma Jean loved gospel music, Elvis, singing songs about Jesus and she loved her little dog, “Buttons”. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Although her family will miss her dearly, they are thankful she is now in the presense of her Lord.

Loving family members include her daughters, Karen Smith (Ken), Teresa Dunn and Pat Ashworth (David); a brother, Ronnie Goodwin (Katie), her grandchildren, Kenny Smith (Wendy), Chris Smith, Scott Smith (Stacy) and Steve Smith (Karen) , Kristina DeCeasar  (Bryan), Angela Goebel, Nichole Bosworth, Bo Riley (Allison) and Matt Riley, Heath Ashworth (Brittany) and Jordan Ashworth (Ben); 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

Memorial services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Dunn will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 28th at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carl Fosdick, Pastor, Enochville Church of God. The family will speak with friends following the memorial service.  Mrs. Dunn will be placed to rest with her husband at the Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
