Obituary: Norman Franklin Honbarger Sr., 82, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, November 21, 2018, at his home. Born July 3, 1936 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Jesse A. Honbarger and Janie Smith Honbarger. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death; in August, 2018 was his wife of almost 62 years Flora Ann Burris Honbarger; brothers Henry, Charlie, Oscar and Jerry Honbarger and sisters, Pearl Honbarger, Edith Davis, Pauline Freeze and Ruby Ingle. Mr. Honbarger retired from Fieldcrest Cannon and was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Honbarger enjoyed time spent with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members with cherished memories include his children, Norma Beaver (Donald) and Jr. Honbarger (Tammy); twin brother, Carl Honbarger (Cora); grandchildren, Greg and Gary Beaver, Brandon Honbarger, Stephanie Brawley, Jill Broome, Ashley Straight and Aletha Gonzalez; his great-grandchildren, Breleigh Beaver, Hunter and Hayden Honbarger, Landon Barnhardt, Eli and Cadence Brawley, Tyler Furman, Jackson Straight, and Alaia and Maxtla Gonzalez and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Main Street Baptist Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Honbarger will begin at 12:00 pm in the church, conducted by the Rev. Billy Beaver, Pastor. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. Memorials may be made in Mr. Honbarger's name to Main Street Baptist Church, 1615 N Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
