Norris Donaldson

Obituary: Mr. Norris Samuel Donaldson, 84, of China Grove went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord following a brief illness. He was born September 16, 1928 in Guilford County, NC a son of the late Charlie and Elsie Mabe Donaldson. Norris was a member of the Church of God Faith. He was employed by Linn-Corriher Mills for 52 years, retiring in 1997. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tar Heel fan and enjoyed fishing. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Kevin Whidden. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Glenda Owens of China Grove. In addition to his parents, Mr. Donaldson was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Huffman Donaldson on March 3, 1995 and a son, Sammy Dean Donaldson on April 5, 2005.Six brothers and one sister also preceded in death. Survivors include one daughter, Glenda (Doug) Owens of China Grove, three sisters, Virginia Benfield of Gastonia, Dorothy Walker and Barbara Ann (Gary) Laturno both of China Grove. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Michelle Kelly, Brian Hager, Katie Donaldson and Shelby Donaldson, seven great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Service: 2:00PM, Thursday, May 9, 2013 Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: West Lawn Memorial Park.
