Obituary: Jewel Chandler Ford, 95, of 865 Ketner Farm Rd., China Grove died Thursday Nov. 19, 2009 at her son's home where she lived for the past two years. She was born July 7, 1914 in Muscadine, Alabama the daughter of the late M.M. and Annie B. Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband George Lindsey Ford on July 22, 1968, andher sons, Alpheus G. Ford and his wife Betty and David L. Ford. She had been a resident of the area since 1943. She retired from Cannon Mills Co. Wash Cloth Dept. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Bob Hunsucker-Haze, son-in-law, and Rev. Jim Grigg, pastor of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 PM Saturday at Whitley's. At other times they will be at the home of her son, M.D. Ford, 865 Ketner Farm Rd., China Grove. She is survived by 2 sons: M.D. Ford and wife Leigh, of China Grove and Billy G. Ford and wife Brenda of Vilonia, Arkansas, her daughter Freda Ford Haze and husband Bob Hunsucker-Haze of Asheville, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
