Obituary: Ola Elizabeth Smith Little, 79, of Concord, NC died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born September 26, 1931 in Cabarrus County, NC daughter of the late Charlie B. Smith and Virginia (Virgie) Marie Buff Smith. Mrs. Little was a graduate of Odell High School, where she played basketball, and King's Business College. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Concord where she had served as secretary of the Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and she and her husband headed the Senior citizens group. In early life Ola helped at her grandfather's peach orchard (Buff's peach orchard). She also helped her father at his cafes in the Brown Mill Hill area. She later was a bookkeeper for Carl's Radio and TV and for Central Rewinding. She was employed with Security Bank for 16 years and later with West Lawn Memorial Park. She did all this in addition to being a homemaker and a Mother. Ola was also known as a talented seamstress and loved working puzzles. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed the Wyoming family camping vacations with her family for over twenty years. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sharon Baptist Church in Concord conducted by Rev. James Strickland and Rev. James Smith. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and will be at the residence the remainder of the time. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Abel Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years: Charles W. Little, Jr. of the home, a son, Tracy Little and wife Robin of Kannapolis, two daughters, Jody Edwards and husband Randy of Kannapolis and Vera Drye and husband Steve of Concord, a sister, Peggie Martin of Baldwin, Ga,.a half-brother, Neil Smith of Concord. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Courtney Wyatt and husband Michael, Brooks Little, Heath Drye, Jenna Little, Katherine Drye and Colton Edwards, and a great grandson, Walker Wyatt. The family would like to express a heartfelt "Thank You" to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
