Obituary: Fogel, Dorothy Jean Landis, NC., Dorothy Jean Fogel, age 78, died at her home on March 21, 2011. She was born October 27, 1932, in Alleghany County , PA, a daughter of the late Bo and Madeline Decker Riggs. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who's first love was her family. She was graduate of Fort Mill High School in Cumberland, Maryland. She was a life member of the Poplar Tent Home Extension Club. She loved her monthly pinochle card games with her friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Gary J. Fogel who died December 26, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Whitley's main chapel in Kannapolis, NC with Rev. Dr. Patti Tillman Simpson, Hospice chaplin officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Prior to the memorial service on Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. The family will welcome all friends at Jimmy and Sherry's home at 806 South Highland Ave., Landis following the services. Survivors include one son; Steven Lee Fogel & wife Karen of Richmond, VA., a daughter; Sherry Wyatt & husband Jimmy of Landis, a sister; Jean Meyer of Cumberland, Maryland, grandchildren; Robert Fogel & wife Erin, Holly Hibbitt & husband Logan, and Dustin Wyatt & wife Robyn, one great granddaughter; Carson Wyatt.
