Ollie Virginia (Long) Stancil

Ollie Virginia Long Stancil, 86, of Rockwell, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at her home, surrounded by love. She had been in declining health for 2 weeks.

Born March 20, 1934, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Long and Ollie Janette Rimer Long.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hartsell, Henry and Thomas Long; her sisters, Ora Lee Brumley and Mary Roseman; 3 sons, Teddy, Timothy and Dale Stancil; and 4 grandchildren.

Mrs. Stancil retired from Terry Products after more than 25 years of loyal service. She had attended Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church.  Ollie loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers, could grow anything and just loved being outside. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Stancil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loving family members include her daughters, Barbara Smith, Phyllis Huffman (Billy), and Doris Huffman (Roy); her son, Larry Stancil (Bettie); her grandchildren, Chris Smith, Wayne Huffman, Jeffery Huffman, Chad Garrison, Tara, Tonya, Scott Stancil, Dale Stancil , Misty and Tracee;  10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Stancil will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Mrs. Stancil will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Chain Grove following the services.
