Obituary: Mrs. Omie Lee Owens Mullins, 87, of 682 State Avenue, Apt. 73, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord. Death was unexpected. She was born January 14, 1922 in Stanly County, daughter of the late Albert and Carrie Jenkins Furr. She was of the Baptist faith, and had retired from Cannon Mills weave room in 1984. Her family was the love of her life. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Joe Harding. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30-2:00 P.M. Friday prior to the funeral. At other times the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Survivors include 2 Sons: Jerry Owens of Kannapolis and Larry Owens of Salisbury, three sisters: Emma Gulledge of Kannapolis, Eloise Dawson of Concord and Bessie Smith of Oakboro. Two Brothers: Albert Furr and Bobby Furr both of Concord. She is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 23 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Burr, who died Dec. 30, 2007, two Sons: Hazel Dale Owens and Ervin Ray Owens, three Sisters: Rachel Skidmore, Pat Quarnte and Rose Bumgardner, and four Brothers: Henry, Johnny, Roy and Coy Furr. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Mullis. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 550, Charlotte, NC 28210-2102.
