Oren Tyler Childress

Obituary: Oren Tyler Childress, 52, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at his residence. Oren was born April 30, 1959 in Cabarrus County to the late Raymond and Evelyn Childress. He was a lifetime resident of Kannapolis, worked for Rowan Salisbury Schools, and loved camping, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Nona Bennett Childress of the home; two daughters, Myranda Childress, and Julia Swaenepoel and her husband, Morris both of Kannapolis; a very special granddaughter, Harmony Swaenepoel; a sister, Vickie Hawks of Anderson, S.C.; and two brothers, Randy Childress of Anderson, S.C. and Lanny Childress of China Grove, NC. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with the Rev. Joe Harding officiating.
