Obituary: Oscar Rodney Cline, 88, of Landis died Monday, March 1, 2016 at CMC-Main in Charlotte. He was born February 21, 1928 in Rowan County, the son of the late Reath and Myrtle Rodgers Cline. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florieta Daniels Cline and two brothers, Herman Cline and Carl Cline and his life-long friend Pless Hubbard. Rodney had formerly worked at Kannapolis Service Company and the former Montgomery Ward. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Allen-Graham Masonic lodge for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Veronica Rogers. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veteran Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM prior to the service. He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Cline Johnson (Jim) and Lisa Ann Cline, three grandchildren, James Benjamin Johnson (Terra), Daniel Allen Johnson (Sarah), Suzanne Johnson Hunter (Tim), 6 great grandchildren, Cy Johnson, Leia Johnson, Laney Grace Johnson, Anna Keener, Cheyanne Hunter, Blake Hunter, two sisters, Linda Cline Land (Jim), Patsy Rudisill (Larry), and his devoted companion, Nancy Cline. Rodney was loved in life by all who knew him. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
