Pansy Bare

d. July 13, 2015

Obituary: Pansy Bare, age 94, passed away about 1:30 AM this morning. She was the wife of Lonnie Bare, who preceded her in death. Together they served as a pastoral couple for the Church of God for about 30 years, including a time on the staff of the Church of God Home for Children in Kannapolis, NC. Mom had continued to live at home with four of my siblings and their spouses rotating one week at a time staying with her. We are forever grateful to them for their labor of love. Mom fell approximately 6 weeks ago and broke her hip. Surgery went well. However, a couple of weeks after surgery things changed. Mom chose DNR. I sat beside her bed and translated DNR: "When I see Jesus with his hand out-stretched and calling for me, do not be messing with my body trying to hold me back." There is a rich treasure in my heart this am. Mom was her dad's favorite of eight children. She and my dad were married 68 years. I have lived my entire life with a godly mother. I do not have a single memory to question her love for her Lord. In the past four weeks I have made 6 trips to North Carolina (600 miles round trip) and sat beside her bed. Siblings and grandchildren have traveled to stay with Mom 24/7 since her sudden downward turn almost 4 weeks ago. Precious personal time has been privileged to each of us while Mom's mind was sharp, clear, witty and loving. Once our daughter Dana [who flew in from CA over 2 weeks ago to sit with Mom during this time] said to Mom as I came into the room: "Grandma, Harold is here. Is he your favorite child?" Mom roused and whispered: "Don't know about that." I replied: "You are my favorite Mom." Lapse of time and she whispered: "You probably got that right." If you wish to financially express your appreciation/caring we invite you to share in an endowment fund at Pentecostal Theological Seminary in honor of Mom. The remaining amount of $6,640 is needed to activate this scholarship fund. Dad's endowment is complete. Interest each year assists needy students to improve their skills for ministry.
