Obituary: May 29, 1922 - January 15, 2010 Kannapolis - A modest and tender lady stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior to become a humble and gentle servant in God's kingdom on January 15, 2010. She died peacefully at The Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County in Kannapolis surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was a faithful witness and servant for God, living a life that showed the path to follow toward the promised kingdom of heaven. Pansy was faithful to raising a Christian family to walk with Jesus Christ. A loving and devoted Mother, she faithfully served her family and the sick and shut-ins from the church with her cakes, pies, Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, James Willard King in 2003, and her son, Terry Lynn King, in 2008. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; J. Wayne and Dale King of Hickory; and two daughters and sons-in-law; Sharon and Roger Caskey and Malia and Jamie Cobb, all of Kannapolis. Eight grandchildren survive Mrs. King. They are Kimberly King Bennett, Memphis, TN; J. Wayne King, II, Chapel Hill; Lori Scercy, Mooresville; Crystal Overcash, Kannapolis; Jamie King, China Grove; Allison Ballard, China Grove; and Ben and Nate Cobb, Kannapolis. Ten great-grandchildren survive her. She is also survived by one sister, Pearl Childers, Taylorsville; and one brother, Ralph Ingram, China Grove. Also surviving are special friends who provided for her needs, Mary Sue and Larry Bentley, and Susan Bare. The family will receive friends and family at Whitley's Funeral Home, January 16, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at her home church, West Point Baptist Church, on January 17, 2010, at 3 p.m. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park will follow. The family has designated the following charities for memorials: Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 and The West Point Baptist Church Food Pantry, 1100 Pine Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Service: 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 17, 2010, West Point Baptist Church

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park
