Obituary: Pastor Carl Calvin Simmons, II, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected. Carl was born November 30 1962 in Montgomery County, NC son of the late Sue Butler and Carl Calvin Simmons, I, of Boston, Mass. He graduated from West Montgomery High School in 1981 and joined the US Air Force in September of 1981. He and his family lived in Tucson, Az. For 23 years. While in the service he also was a store manager for FedEx-Kinko's. He received his honorable discharge in 2002, retiring with the rank of MSGT. He received his Associate's Degree in Theology from LCU. After returning to Kannapolis he was ordained on November 1, 2015 at Cabarrus Christian Fellowship where he served as assistant Pastor. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Pastor Roger Byrd. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the US Air Force. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Katrina Hill Simmons of the Home, one son, Carl Calvin Simmons, III of the home, four daughters, Natassajh Simmons Wright, Carla Simmons, Juna Simmons, Kiara Simmons, and son-in-law John Spacher, all of Kannapolis. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Deziree Wright and two grandsons, Loki and Gabriel Spacher.
