Patricia Ann Hogue

Obituary: Patricia Ann Hogue, 80, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Guggenheimer Rehab & Hospice in Lynchburg, VA. Pat was born September 6, 1936 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Frank William Clodfelter and Edna Anderson Clodfelter Mancuso. Pat was a 1954 graduate of Landis High School and in her earlier years was employed by Cannon Mills. She later retired as a receptionist of 40 years for Dr. Shaver and the late Dr. Lee, optometrist in Landis. She was a faithful member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where she was actively involved as secretary for the Mission Action Circle, volunteered with the food pantry, chairman of the flower/Gideon Bible memorial committee. She was also involved in the children's ministry, including nursery director, GA/Acteen leader, VBS worker, as well as serving on various committees. Pat was a member of the Gideons International Womens Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were of her travels with K-town Vagabonds and Christian Tours, as well as trips with her church family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Hogue, who died in May 2012, and a granddaughter, Rebekah Spivey, in January 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Surada Watkins (Mike), of Big Island, VA and Susan Spivey, of Raleigh, NC; three granddaughters, Lindsay Hance (Michael), of Greensboro, NC, Lauren Landis (John Everett), of Columbia, SC, and Sarah Spivey, of Raleigh, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Makayla, Grayson, and Caleb Hance. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm Thursday, June 15. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Mike Watkins and Rev. Rickey Oxford will be held at Shadybrook Baptist Church Friday, June 16, at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Carolinas Memorial Park in Concord.
