Obituary: Mrs. Patricia Ann Phillips, 66, of Kannapolis passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, after an extended illness. She was born November 9, 1948, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Walter Lynn and Lieu Ella Walls Copeland. Patricia grew up in Blacksville, West Virginia where she graduated from Clay Battelle High School in 1966. She attended Trumbull County Joint Vocational School in Warren, Ohio where she received her Dental Assistant Certificate. Patricia was the youngest of seven children. Her father worked as a coal miner and her mother was a seamstress. She was a dedicated, devoted, loving and protective sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was compassionate and caring to those who would cross her path. She was a selfless woman, always giving and helping anyone who needed her time. Patricia valued her faith and family above all else and loved having family together for holiday's and dinners. Her house was the neighborhood house where all the kids gravitated too when the children were younger. She loved to share stories about her children and especially her grandchildren with her friends. She also loved to travel, crochet, and play bingo. She worked various jobs as needed to help the family, retiring from Mahoning National Bank. She last worked as a Pricing Coordinator for Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse. Survivors include her husband William Paul Phillips Sr. whom she married December 24, 1965; two daughters: Deardra Diane Liddle and husband Mark of Salisbury; and Constance Jean van den Bosch and husband Roger of Charlotte; one son, William Paul Phillips Jr. and wife Lynette of Troutman; four grandchildren: Samantha, Mark, Jessica and Nathan; one sister; Carol Leigh Hixenbaugh of Blacksville, West Virginia, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Florence Cross and Jean Smith and three brothers Junior Stewart, Donnie Stewart and Gary Copeland. Patricia attended Independence Baptist Church and Bailey Road Baptist Church both of North Jackson, Ohio. Piedmont Baptist Church of Kannapolis was her home church. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Pastor Mike Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Sunday July 5, 2015, at Whitley's Funeral Home.
