Patrick Manuel Overcash

Obituary: Patrick Manuel Overcash, 79 of Kannapolis went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare Medical Center surrounded by his family. Manuel was born on July 28, 1939 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Turner Leroy Overcash and the late Janie Whittington Overcash. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, W.D. Overcash and Turner Overcash and Merle Overcash and a sister, Pearl Overcash. Manuel was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company as an electrician, retiring due to disability in 1976. He received his master's degree and PhD from N.C. College of Theology, Wilmington, NC. Manuel served as choir director at many area churches. "He loved the Lord" and was an active member of Unity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Myra London Overcash of the home; four children, April Baucom (Barry), Angela Overcash, Christopher Overcash (Dawn) and Jennifer Smith (Dan), 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Emma Walter, Frances Davis (Frenchie) Davis, Sarah Russ, Betty Overcash, Ralph Overcash and Mary Ann Tino (Arnold). The service for Manuel will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Sep. 21, 2018 at Unity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Joel Ervin, Judy Golden and Rev. Randall Ritchie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
