Obituary: Paul Bell, 81, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home. He was born July 24, 1933 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the son of the late Glenn Lester Bell and Mary Safrona Blevens Bell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda King Bell, a grandson, David Grapes, a brother, Lester Bell and a sister, Gay Farrington. Paul had previously worked at Cannon Mills and then retired from Hoechst-Celanese Corp. He was a veteran of the US Army , He was an active member of Brookdale Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, church bus driver, Usher, Awanas teacher and Visitation Overseer to name a few. He was very active with the Youth groups of the church for many years. Paul was a member of the former Towel City C.B. Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and camper. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Brookdale Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard and Rev. Scott Savage. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at his home. He is survived by 4 children, Trina Bell Sloop (Randy), Tammy Bell Howell (Dale), Teresa Bell Shue (Keith) and Keith Bell, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Katie Wyatt and Lucy Perry.
