Paul Eugene Christy, Sr.

Obituary: Paul Eugene Christy, Sr., 77, of Kannapolis passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Kannon Creek Assisted Living Center following a period of declining health. Paul was born April 23, 1938 in Iredell County, NC, a son of the late Walter and Roxie Arthurs Christy. He was one of twelve children. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of W.R. Odell High School. Paul was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Paul retired as a mechanic from Celanese in Salisbury. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Swix officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service in the Commons Area of the church. Interment will be private. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ann Dancy Christy, a daughter, Janice Diane Christy, brothers; Cletus, Frank, Ray, Otto and Jr. Christy, and sisters; Goldie Rodgers and Mary Christy. Survivors include one son, Buddy Christy (Nevina) of Kannapolis; daughter, Sherry Loyd (Wil) of Concord, grandchildren; Amelia Barton (Vern), Aleigha Christy, Ashlyn Christy, William Loyd, and Kaitlyn Loyd. He is also survived by a sister, Annie Long (Bill) of Rockwell, and brothers, Steve Christy (Rachel) and Leonard Christy (Gloria) of Kannapolis and other loving relatives.
