Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Paul Edward Scoggins, age 70, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Brian Center, Concord, NC after 30 years of declining health. He was born April 20, 1939 in Madison County, Georgia, the son of the late Thomas Edward "Ed" Scoggins and Ollie Angie Tucker Scoggins.He was a graduate of Madison County High School, Danielsville, GA and Central Piedmont Community College. In earlier years he worked for Cannon Mills Company, Plt. #1 Crash Dept., then after completing an associate degree as a machinist, went to work at Shannon Hosiery Mill, & later, Ketchie-Houston.Eventually,working with Ronson Hydraulic, Charlotte, NC for 17 years and finally Reynolds Metals in Salisbury, NC until his retirement due to ill health. He was an active member of Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he was a member of the Christian Homemakers Sunday School Class & was active with Boy Scout Troop #7 for over 30 years and had served as scout master.During this time he was the recipient ofthe "Beaver" award in scouting.He was also one of the Hardee's "Gang". In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Scoggins and three brothers, George Andrew Scoggins, Raymond Arnold Scoggins, and James Harold Scoggins; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Irvin and Randall Coile. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Dave Cash.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Monday, September 7, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife whom he married September 4, 1959, Carolyn Hayer Scoggins; two daughters, Tamra Lea Scoggins Misenheimer & husband, Virgil of Salisbury, NC and Janet Ann Scoggins Haywood & husband, Jeremiah of Kannapolis, NC; Three grandchildren, Kristen Marie Misenheimer of Salisbury, NC, Andrew James Misenheimer & wife, Julie of Kannapolis, NC, and Matthew Bryan Misenheimer of Salisbury, NC, Kayla Suzanne Scoggins of Kannapolis, NC, Hollie Elizabeth Haywood of Kannapolis, NC, Haley Victoria Haywood of Kannapolis, NC, Isaiah Haywood and Isaac Haywood, both of Kannapolis, NC; Two brothers, Bobby Daniel Scoggins and Darral Grady Scoggins & wife, Sandra, both of Danielsville, GA Four sisters, Ina Joyce S.
