Paul Ray Weast, 84, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 after a period of declining health. Born August 15, 1936 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Paul Wright Weast and Effie Cornelius Lambert Weast.
Paul spent his working years in the textile business as a bleacher. He more than honorably served his country in the United States Army. Paul loved the outdoors, particularly fishing, camping and going to the beach
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Stirewalt Weast; two sons, Trenton Weast of Mt. Pleasant and Todd Weast and wife Tricia of Concord; a step-daughter Teresa Carter and husband Troy of China Grove; a step-son, Eric Argo of Raeford; five grandchildren, Nicole Motley and husband Tyler Walter of Kannapolis, Jason Morgan of Virginia, Brian Morgan of Concord, T.J. Weast of Raleigh, and Matthew Weast of Gastonia; five step – grandchildren Jeffery Snyder of Kannapolis, Christopher Snyder of China Grove, Ryan Carter and wife Destiny of Hickory, Ivy Nicole Argo O’Brien and husband Paul of Ft. Bragg, and Andrew Scott Argo and Jessica of Raleigh, NC; a great granddaughter Paycin Gainey; and a step -great granddaughter MacKenzie O’Brien.
Aside from his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Regina Weast; two sisters, Margaret Christy and Helen Canup; and two brothers, Kenneth and William Weast.
A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 6, 2020 at West Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Rev. James Pauley will officiate. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at West Lawn Mausoleum Chapel.
Memorials may be made to a cause of the donor’s choice.
