Obituary: Paul Roger "Pete" Williams, 78 of Concord, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from CMC-NE after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 11 at Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord with Rev. Michael Waters, Rev. Darrell Coble and Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. His family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Saturday prior to the funeral. Pete was born June 14, 1937 in Davidson, NC, a son of the late Paul and Helen White Williams. He was a long-time area resident, veteran of the US Army and Army National Guard and member of Parkwood Baptist Church. Pete retired from being a local Truck Driver in 1999 to pursue his interest in hunting and competitive Shooting. He enjoyed spending time with his wife at their place in the mountains. Above all he will be remembered as a great Christian husband, father and "Gran". He was a loving "Gran" to Angel, Ivy, Noah and SarahGrace. Pete is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Upright Williams of Concord, his son, Tom Williams of Concord, his daughter, Lynda W. Taylor of Kannapolis, his 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters; Nan Thomas of Monroe, Maryann Ferguson of Charlotte, 2 brothers; Tim Williams of Mint Hill and John Williams of Cramerton.
