Paula King Melton, 75, of Rock Hill, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on July 12, 2022.
Paula was born on August 21, 1946 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Ray Eugene King and Maggie Janette Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jason Craig Melton and sister, Faye Beaver.
Paula was a graduate of AL Brown class of 1964. She spent her career working as a medical office assistant and later worked as pharmacy tech. Paula was extremely artistic and very talented at painting, crocheting and knitting. She would spending countless hours making beautiful blankets and various pieces of art. Not only was she talented at crafts but she was very skilled in baking. She could make the best fruit-cake cookies and banana pudding. Paula loved being outside and tending to her flower garden. But most of all, she loved her family. She spent 58 beautiful years married to the love of her life. It filled her heart with so much joy to spend time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was a gentle, kind lady that touched the hearts of many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband, John E. Melton; children, Derrick Scott Melton and Michaela Esbjerg; grandchildren, Steven Melton (Brittany), Kristina Thomas (Tony), Justin Melton (Ashley), Christian Curry (Travis), and Barry Burke Jr.; great- grandchildren, Carver, Ledger, Cayden, and Evelyn Melton, Jordyn Ingram, Autumn and Victoria Thomas; siblings, Betty Walter, Phyllis Hemingway, Linda Kerr, and Wilson King.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis, interment will be private.
