Pauline Oliphant

Obituary: Pauline Combs Oliphant, 96, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord following a period of declining health. Pauline was born April 4, 1921 in Davie County, NC a daughter of the late Loyd Robinson Combs and the late Gertha Mahaley Smith Combs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Richard Oliphant who died November 14, 1987, three brothers, Hoyle Wesley Combs, Loyd Clinton Combs and Walter Raymond Combs, and two sisters, Ruby Lorine Combs Waller and Ruth Irene Combs. She had been employed for many years as a hemmer in the washcloth dept. of Cannon Mills prior to her retirement. Pauline was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Enochville where she had over 50 years of perfect attendance. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the WMU. She had also served as the secretary of the church and was the church messenger to the Cabarrus Baptist Association. She supported the Cabarrus Sharing House and was active in mission work. Family members left to cherish her memory are one son, Loyd Oliphant and special friend Libby Mabrey of Kannapolis, and grandson Eric Loyd Oliphant of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 7, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Lewis Whittington. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. "The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living for their loving care and assistance to Pauline during her illness." The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Enochville, 2308 Davis Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
