Pearlie Peterson

Obituary: - Rev. Pearlie Frances Taylor-Peterson, age 92, went to her homecoming on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. She was born December 20, 1923 in Rockingham, NC, the daughter of the late William Samuel Bailey and Nettie Florence Brigman Bailey. Today, she is the last surviving child of twelve children. Pearlie was pastor of the former Calvary Chapel in Landis, NC for fifteen years. Later, she was pastor of Boulevard Chapel, Kannapolis, NC where she has served in various ministries for thirty-five years. In her earlier years she was also known for preaching two radio programs and featured on the "Wings of Revival" television ministry operated by her brother, Rev. Raymond Bailey for some time. Pearlie was also Co-Creator of the Twin-City Evangelistic Association with the late Rev. Dorothy McLain for over thirty years. She was a musician that would play the piano, accordion, and the guitar. Her son fondly remembers her making road trips with him to places like Chimney Rock and Lake Lure and also beating him at Putt-Putt golf over the years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Rev. Herman Andrew (Jack) Taylor who died in 1978; her 2nd husband, Rev. Samuel H. Peterson in 1999. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Randy Lefler and Rev. Shawn Beaver. Burial will follow at Center Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her son, Tommy Allen Taylor of Kannapolis, NC; her sister-in-law, Naomi Bailey of Salisbury, NC and numerous nieces & nephews.
