Peggy Kimball

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Peggy Joyce Gordon Kimball, age 77, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Monday, February 3, 2014 at her home. She had battled cancer for several years with the final bout affecting her since May 2013. She was born September 6, 1936 in Madison County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Monroe A. Gordon and Emily Dickerson Gordon. Peggy was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Peggy was employed for many years with the former Cannon Mills Company and later I.B.M. in Charlotte. She was also a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC and loved her faith with the Lord. Her family fondly remembers her as a lady who loved people and getting to know them well. She was an upbeat person and dealt with adversity in the most positive of ways. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Grant Kimball who died July 27, 2008. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. Thomas E. Cabaniss. A graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include two daughters, Cherie Atwell & husband, David A. Atwell and Susan Kimball, all of Kannapolis, NC; one sister, Libby Walters & husband, Larry of China Grove, NC; two grandsons, Josh Kimball and Matthew Kimball, both of Kannapolis, NC; two granddaughters, Tiffany Kimball and Jessica Christy, also of Kannapolis, NC; and a great-granddaughter, Lilly Kimball of Kannapolis, NC Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 101 N.
