Obituary: Peggy C. Orbison, age 77, of Kannapolis went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 18, 2013 while at CMC-NE with her family by her side, following a period of declining health. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 21 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Curran officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 2 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral, at other times they will be gathered at her residence. Peggy was born October 22, 1935 in Iredell Co., a daughter of the Late Clarence and Lola Mae Sherrill Wagner. She was a life-long area resident and worked for 35 years at Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 in the cutting room until she retired. Peggy loved to go to yard sales and transform "trash into treasures". She was a family person, who enjoyed spending time with her family. Peggy was a loving and devoted mother, "Maw-Maw" and sister. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil B. Orbison in 1999, a sister, Nellie J. Steel and a brother, James Wagner. Those left to cherish her memories include daughters; Vickie Wiggins (Paul) of Mount Pleasant, Debra Schenk of Concord, Brenda Wiggins (Randy) of Kannapolis and her sons; Jimmy Orbison (Kim) of Kannapolis and Allen Orbison (Donna) of Rockwell. She is also survived by her brothers; Earl Wagner of Salisbury and Richard Wagner of South Carolina and 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.
