Phil Collier Ashworth

Obituary: Phil Collier Ashworth, 70 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born February 26, 1945 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Ernest Collier Ashworth and the late Cora Bell Woodard Grass. Phil was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church. He retired from Duke Power-McGuire Nuclear Station in 2003 with 23 years of service. He was an avid Tar Heel fan, enjoyed watching sports and working in his yard. A Memorial Service will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Dr. Mike Edwards. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel at a later date. Survivors include two sons, Edward Blake Ashworth (Kendra) of China Grove and John Gregory Ashworth (Stacie Edwards) of Charlotte, half-brother Ken Woodard of Kannapolis, sister, Carol Holcomb (Larry) of Salisbury and two grandchildren, Ryan Ashworth and Eric Stowe. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd, Ste. 200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
