Obituary: Phillip Melvin Barringer, 60, of Roswell, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was born June 2, 1952 in Cabarrus County, the son of Ernest Melvin Barringer of Kannapolis and the late Mattie Juanita Farley Barringer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Eston Barringer. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and attended Wingate College. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had formerly worked at Ford Motor Credit, Atlanta Auto Nation Dealerships and presently owned Phil's Shoes and Treasures. He was an avid sports fan, especially a fan of the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Tarheels basketball. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kannapolis. Burial will be private. In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, John Barringer of Matthews and Steve Barringer of Washington, DC, a sister, Ann Barringer of Henderson, NV.,11 nieces and nephews and his beloved two dogs, Buster and Mattie. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice in Phillip's name.
