Phyllis Ann Hendley

Obituary: Phyllis Ann Hendley, 68, of Concord, NC, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was born to the late Elwood Jones and Mae Ward, August 2, 1945, in Durham, NC. Phyllis graduated from Southern High School in 1964. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Elwood and Mae Jones, and sister, Eleanor Gay Walters all of Durham, NC. She was married to Steve Lee, where they lived together in Concord, NC. Phyllis moved to Kannapolis, NC in 1975, was a former owner of Basket Surprises in Concord, and subsequently went to work in Human resources at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital; she left the hospital after 12 years and joined Steve as the Financial Administrator at United Claims Service, Inc. an Insurance Adjusting Company they owned together in Concord, NC. Phyllis loved to watch her grandsons play baseball and more than anything she just loved spending time with her son Todd, and the boys. Phyllis is survived by her husband Steve, son Todd, and his wife Stacey, Grandsons Tyler Hendley, and Jayden Hendley along with Stacey's two daughters, Victoria Davis and Claire Davis; Steve's daughters, Jennifer Beaver, her husband Todd, their 2 children, Zachary and Samantha; Jacqueline Masi, and her 2 sons, Trenton and Graham; Phyllis's sister Linda Faye Mitchell, brother Elwood Jones, of Durham, NC, as well as nephew's Jonathon Jones of Durham, NC, Phillip Mitchell, of Roxboro, NC, his wife Charlene, and their 3 children, as well as cousins from both Durham and Eastern NC. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Robert Leonard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 6 to 8 PM Monday evening.

Service: 1:00 PM, Tuesday November 5, 2013 Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
