Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Phyllis Clampet Lazenby, age 73, of Moose Road, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She had been in declining health many years & seriously ill 3 ½ months. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. David Parrish. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service. She was born March 28, 1936 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Hubert P. Clampet and Mary Aldridge Clampet. She was a retired employee of the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#1 Sewing Dept. after many years of service. She was a member of Elwood Lane Free Will Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Flossie Bostian, Dorothy Stuart, and one brother, Frank Clampet. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jimmy Lazenby; a daughter, Janice Cheek and son-in-law, Bryan Cheek; 2 grandchildren, Allie and Anna Cheek; 5 sisters, Mable Gross, Eva Snow, Mildred Black, Martha Sellers, Faye Wyrick; and a special niece, Pat Beam and many other special nieces and nephews.
